We’ll see how it goes once it’s in the wild, but I truly have seen or heard nothing about it so far that warrants all the fights I’m seeing about it, many of which feel pretty disingenuous.įollow me on Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.

Considering we are on three generations of Grand Theft Auto 5, I don’t think it’s the craziest idea in the world for Sony to also have three variants of one of its most beloved games of all time. But my guess is that they have gambled correctly that there are enough Last of Us die-hards, or new players who missed the first time, to make this worthwhile. If the remake does not deliver enough for that $70 value, it will fail and this will have been a mistake that hurts no one but Sony and Naughty Dog. I just don’t really understand why this game is so controversial. (I maintain Sony’s push toward $70 games overall is not great, but that’s a debate for another day).

Either you love the series and will pay it, or you don’t care as much and the difference between $60 and $70 probably wouldn’t have tipped you over the edge either way. It’s kind of the ultimate “if that sounds like too much, don’t buy it” situation, and I feel like the types of people who keep using the $70 price as a bludgeon are mainly Xbox console war folks trying to get offended on behalf of Sony players, who don’t seem to care as much.
